What is a piston seal?

Piston seals are utilized to provide sealing between the cylinder and the cylinder bore, preventing leakage of hydraulic fluids or air.  

The seal is inner to the cylinder and enables pressure to be kept up on one side of the piston, creating force to move it back and forth.
